Welcome Back

Good afternoon!

Yesterday, the first day back after Spring Break, went by so quickly. We were all surprised when we looked at the time and saw it was five minutes before the bell! Our learning yesterday included creating 3D shapes, which required fine motor skills and a heavy dose of patience. As we have learned about citizenship and community, the next step was introducing care in the community; specifically care for water, animals, air, and trees. What are some ways your family and you care for air, animals, trees and water?

Today we explored Spring and with our Spring Thinking Caps came up with:

Ally shared something VERY neat and interesting! Can you guess what this is? If you don't know, please ask your son or daughter. So cool!

Your son or daughter was to bring home a bright orange sheet before Spring Break. Our Artist in Residence, Mrs. Jennifer Stables, will be working on a project with us, starting TOMORROW, as we explore Shapes and Patterns, First Nations, and Seasons. We are needing a variety of natural materials to build something, and are in need of the following:

- small twigs
- red/orange/yellow leaves
- fresh or flowers that have been flat dried
- potpourri
- small shells
- wheat

Perhaps you can go for a walk around your area to find these things in nature! Thank you to Ally and Amy who have brought in a few things!

Today a notice was sent home about a Community Walk which is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 12. This is very important and the form must be returned as soon as possible in your child's home folder.

Thank you to my secret student who filled my bucket by making this for me, something I did not notice until after everyone left the room:

Your son or daughter may be sharing some sad news they learned today. We talked about it as a class and our friend knows that we are here to fill her bucket and support her in any way we can. We also talked about how sometimes her heart may be hurting on the inside, so we should be good friends and ask her if she needs a smile or hug. I am proud of my students showing their friend Care for Others.

Tomorrow is library book exchange!
