First Day in Grade 1
Hello and welcome to Room 5's very first blog post!
What an amazing first day for our students in Grade 1. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and excited faces waiting to start the day.
Today our class talked about differences between Kindergarten and Grade 1. The students think that in Grade 1 they will:
* learn
* read
* do A LOT of work
* get too much homework (!)
* hear stories
* have recess
* eat lunch in the gym
* try their best
* play
* paint
* drink from a water bottle
* have fun
* use the Smartboard
We toured the first floor of our school so the students knew where to find the bathrooms, the learning commons, the gym, the music room, the office, and the doors from which they will enter and exit in the morning, recess, lunch, and after school.
Throughout the day we discussed expectations and will review them each day this week. After these first few days students will become more familiar with our classroom expectations and routines.
I had a wonderful first day in Grade 1 and look forward to an incredible year!
