Today we had a
fire drill and as we knew it was going to happen we practiced in the
morning. Some students volunteered to show what we should NOT do! This included
running, stopping to get outside shoes, jackets or water bottles, and walking
slowly. Of course after this we demonstrated and discussed expectations. After
the fire drill, we made a chart of what we felt went really well and what we
could improve upon. The class thought they did an excellent job of lining up at
the door and quietly walking outside. An area to improve was staying quiet once
we were outside.
All the Pillars of
Care are important and have been discussed, with great student examples, since
the first day of school. Today, there were many times when Care for Others was
not demonstrated. We talked about how important it is for our classroom to show
care. My hope is that in continuing to discuss Pillars of Care, our classroom
will work together as a community of learners.
How many words do
you know that start with the letter Ss and make an “s” sound? Ask your child for
at least two examples! Some super words were shared. If a student had an
example that did not start with the letter Ss and make the “s” sound, we talked
about why we could not add it to our list. Here is a little song we learned:
"The snake is in
the grass.
The snake is in
the grass.
sssss sssss
The snake is in
the grass!"
Have a super day!
