June 6

Good afternoon!

Please note I will not be here tomorrow (Wednesday).

We had snakes in our classroom! Yes, you heard correctly! Students made pet snakes out of coloured paper. One was named Jake the Snake. Some were very unique looking, with eyelashes, hair, eyebrows, glasses, etc. Since I am a little uneasy around these reptiles, I did ask that they go home with their human Grade 1 friend!

You will see some interesting creatures come home in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned.

Yesterday, your son or daughter should have shown you a binder ring full of sight words. These words are ones that can be practiced for a few minutes each day. It is fun to find a sight word in stories read together. If anyone is feeling like a challenge, how about writing sentences? These do not need to be returned.

In math we continue to talk about adding, subtracting, equals, and word problems.

On Friday, June 23, the three Grade 1 classes will be on a field trip to the Calgary Zoo. If you have your volunteer clearance, please let me know ASAP.
