I hope everyone is staying warm! Today students were outside for recess, a decision made based on the temperature at the time. There were a number of students who were crying because they were cold, got their clothes wet (from playing in the snow), or were not dressed appropriately. I had a student in my class with one sock, and a couple of students who did not wear their sweaters which they left hanging on their coat hook! The decision to have inside or outside recess is made close to the time of when the bell rings, based on the current temperature, so we do not know in advance to alert families.
Today we discussed community and what makes a community. Please ask your son or daughter if they can give you examples. We played sight word bingo for the first time. Some students guessed incorrectly, some chose the right word, while others took their time to figure it out.
Early dismissal is January 20 and report cards will be sent home January 27.
