Good afternoon!
Today in gymnastics we graduated to using equipment. Students practiced walking across balance beams in different ways, and climbed up and down ladders and ropes! They remembered how to safely climb, and safely jump off the end of a balance beam. Rolling from cat to dog or log rolling on the mats was another station.
In math the students and I talked about graphs and what sort of information can be found. As an example we shared what we ate for breakfast and then I showed them what a graph would look like with everything that we ate.
We played a sight word "game" today to practice spelling and saying our words. We had to close our eyes while one person spelled the word and we all had to guess the word. Some students are finding the sight words in their books during Daily 5 or even when we were walking down the hall!
During our morning meeting we discovered today was our 80th day of school! That means 20 more days (the students did the math for me) until we reach the 100th day of school and learning! We discussed what we could do to build up to this momentous event, such as make a paper chain with 100 links, read for 100 minutes, 100 snacks, etc etc.
Fabulous weather, again! While I was on supervision so many students removed their jackets as it was warmer than the past couple of weeks, however, they were only wearing t-shirts! Layering is so important! Also, since it is very slushy please remember the snow pants.
Last thing to mention is that I love having an end of day "sharing circle" where we come together as a class community to share our day and what went well and what could improve. This has turned into students bringing things from home every day, including toys and jewelry! For now, I have made the decision to not have students share items. Toys are not supposed to find their way into backpacks 😀
P.S. Library books are due tomorrow!
Thank you,
Ms. Cokar
